Acute and transient psychotic disorder

Characterized by an abrupt onset of psychotic symptoms that rapidly reach full intensity and may include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized thinking, and disorientation. There is no clear long-standing precipitating factor, and the duration is brief (typically under three months). The episode often resolves with a full return to previous functioning. The rapid onset and short duration distinguish this condition from schizophrenia.
