Amnestic disorder
A disorder characterized by prominent impairment in learning new information or recalling previously acquired information, in the absence of other significant cognitive impairments, causing functional impairment. May be associated with Korsakoff syndrome (alcohol-related), or other causes.

- Retrograde memory impairment (loss of past memories) (also: Retrograde amnesia, loss of past memories, inability to recall prior life events, remote memory impairment, memories from before onset lost)
- Preserved consciousness and personal orientation (also: Preserved consciousness, intact orientation to person, aware of own identity, no clouding of consciousness, personal identity preserved)
- Impaired independent daily functioning (also: Impaired daily functioning, difficulty managing daily tasks alone, need for assistance, dependency in daily life, functional impairment from amnesia)
- Confabulation (filling memory gaps with fabrications) (also: Confabulation, filling memory gaps with invented stories, fabricated memories, unconscious false memories, memory gap filling)
- Disorientation to time or place (also: Disorientation to time, disorientation to place, temporal confusion, not knowing the date, confusion about location)
