Enuresis
A disorder characterized by repeated involuntary voiding of urine into bed or clothes (whether involuntary or intentional), at a developmental age when continence is expected (at least 5 years). The behavior occurs at a clinically significant frequency.
Symptoms
- Involuntary voiding of urine during sleep (nocturnal enuresis) (also: Involuntary voiding of urine during sleep (nocturnal enuresis), bedwetting during sleep, nocturnal bedwetting, nocturnal enuresis, bedwetting)
- Involuntary voiding of urine during the day (diurnal enuresis) (also: Involuntary voiding of urine during the day, daytime bedwetting, diurnal enuresis, daytime urinary incontinence)
- Repeated wetting of underwear or bedding (also: Repeated wetting of underwear or bedding, repeated soiling of underwear with urine, soiled underwear with urine, wetting underwear)
- Developmental age >=5 years (also: child >=5 years of age, developmental age adequate for bladder control, beyond typical toilet-training period, age criterion met)
- Frequency >=2x/week for >=3 months or clinically significant distress (also: bedwetting >=2 times per week, >=3 months duration, persistent nature, clinically significant)
- Primary (since birth) or secondary (after >=6 months of continence) (also: primary enuresis, secondary enuresis, never achieved continence, relapse after dry period)
- No organic cause (also: No organic cause (diabetes, infection, neurology, anatomy), negative urinalysis, no diabetes, no urinary tract infection)
