Catatonia
Catatonia is a state in which motor activity and the capacity to respond to the environment are severely disrupted. Prolonged immobility, mutism, fixed postures, or conversely sudden, repetitive purposeless movements may occur. Responses to commands may be absent, the movements and words of others may be automatically imitated, and contact with reality may be markedly restricted. This state may accompany various mental disorders or be induced by substances and medications.
